My guide was adventurous and fun—she even tried surfing with me, and taught me simple Dai language in Xishuangbanna. Accommodation was also thoughtful throughout the trip: in Wanning, we stayed in a beachfront surf homestay, just a few minutes' walk from the beach; in Xishuangbanna, we booked a Dai-style courtyard hotel full of tropical charm.
